The session involves the incorporation of multi-modal approaches to student feedback in the science classroom (which can be applied to other contexts). In particular, I will be outlining the use of the application flip grid to allow collaborative student feedback and feedforward in the form of audiovisual presentations by the students. The use of other applications like Powerpoint, Sensavis and Microsoft Office mix in combination with the flipgrid application to generate teacher video content on the flip grid platform in particular for abstract scientific concepts for students to provide feedback and feedforward on will also be highlighted.

The efficacy of this particular approach to increasing student engagement and collaborative knowledge creation will also be highlighted. The development of international collaborations with skype in conjunction with flipgrid will also be touched on as a way to increase global connections and develop global student understandings. This is particularly pertinent for collaborations involving a significant time difference.

Finally, the use of Flipgrid for formative and diagnostic assessment will be discussed and the advantages of this approach over traditional teaching techniques will be covered.
