In this session, student inspired, researched, designed innovation projects will span the past five months of the Dubai American Academy's new Innovation Program.  Specifically in the Middle School Elective, students were tasked with identifying a problem or issue they would like to apply our solution fluency which breaks down the process into steps.  Starting with define, discover, dream, design, deliver and debrief, the student stories carry a wealth of technologies available to enhance their learning during this independent study.

Routed in service learning, student projects ranged from creating charger rental systems in the library for students who forget their chargers at home, to creating children's books to explain when it is best to stay home when sick.  Innovation Project teams reached beyond the classroom and school to connect with Art programs for students in Kenya, companion plush toys for refugee children during counseling and another group designed a 3D brain inside of Minecraft to use for giving tours to children who are in need of brain surgery explaining the procedure in friendlier conditions.

Links will be provided to many of the presentations for deeper looks as they are literally being finalized during our conference.  Technologies that will be covered include Flipgrid, Pepper the Robot, Gamification, Tinkercad, 3D printing, Scratch, Web design, Canva, Prezi, Stop Motion, Green Screens, drones and more.  As this session is meant to share and inform things to consider when starting an Innovation Program, there will be some take away materials for systems and procedures that we learned from while planning the future of our innovation program.
